somatic work
1:1 somatic work facilitates renewal and deepening of embodied experience through applied listening with and beyond the physical body, assisting clients in building pathways for physical, emotional, and mental self-regulation, establishing connection with the body and nervous system, developing personal somatic/attention practices, supporting life changes and transitions, nurturing boundaries and intentionality with others, deepening creative practice, and engaging with grief and death processes, among other outcomes.
The format of somatic work varies in response to each individual. Sessions can be approached through resting in a lying down or seated position &/or with a series of gentle shapes & light movement. Guided breathing, gentle touch &/or movement, focused attention, and creative visualization join to balance the body’s systems, facilitate deep rest, and invite alignment wiht & beyond the self. This work is followed by collaborative conversation and intuitive reflection, resulting customized tools for each client to work with beyond our session.
