“BOISE” WORK (how’d you?)
“BOISE” WORK (how’d you) comrised a series of grief releases and private performances that occurred between 2020 and 2025 with various locations in and beyond the Boise Valley. A note on the work from April 2025:
“BOISE” WORK (how’d you) is the culmination of several years of work, completed and brought together thanks to a six-month residency at The Common Well in Garden City, ID, supported by the Alexa Rose Foundation. Since it began in November of 2024, I've been making/finding a conclusion with work that has centered around my relationship with "Boise" and the land that contains and supports it even in exponential growth and ongoing extraction. This has been a lot of grief and release work, and looking back, I have come to realize this process began when I moved back here in 2018, ready to really engage with this place as an adult and try to contribute to its health. The residency time has given me space to complete some elements of this work and better understand the "project" as a whole — a balancing of my way of being in relation to this place; a clearing, an apology, & an ever-growing debt to the trees the rocks the sky the brushes and animals and water and. Though I have facilitated a few group offerings, including a group Grief Release, and have made records with individuals as part of this undertaking, so much of the work has happened invisibly — through "private performances" in collaboration with the foothills, the river; in many long hikes and walks taken alone; in the quiet writing of a book largely entrenched in this place — and a big, fun challenge has been figuring out how to represent nonmaterial processes on a physical plane. To that end, the work of the exhibition has taken the form of an evolving installation composed of found, borrowed, and received materials, which incorporates text and video, as well as performance. The installation will continue to change and be activated through the emptying of boxes filled with objects accumulated over the course of each element of the project. Assemblages and constructions including these objects will be offered to individuals who visit the installation, a dissemination of transmuted grief. The project will close on May 13 with a final “performance” at The Common Well.

FACILITATION
Grief Release
01.11.2025
1 - 3pm
A gently guided somatic experience that invited participants to locate grief of any form that was ready to be let go, and tend to and release that grief to invite space for the new. With equal focus on the physical body and outer surroundings, this walk provided an opportunity to be in deep attention alongside others while working internally with tenderness and enhanced awareness.
We began with a moment of somatic grounding and opening at the Giant Box Elder Tree and continued along a natural path to the river. After releasing grief beneath the bridge below the wave in Garden City, participants spread across the bridge to form a line of care and connection, then carried on with a solitary walk.
21 participants joined the 01.11.2025 grief release.
